Akatsuki No Yona
The animated drama follows the story of Princess Yona. It's fascinating how the adventure begins when Yona, the princess of the Kingdom of Kouka, transforms into a rogue after her sheltered life, with the twist occurring when she turns sixteen. That's the age when her close friend and cousin Soo-Won turns traitor by killing her father to take the throne. While her loyal bodyguard Hak helps her to escape, she gets onto the journey of taking back her crown. She also sets out to kill so-called allies like the four legendary dragon warriors who never supported her. The anime is set in East-Asian fictional cultures and praises polical motives. The blend of action romance makes it superb. Throughout the journey, Yona learns to tackle -from her naive ways- the pretenses of the kingdom, granting her the title ‘compassionate leader’The manga started in August 2009 with Kusanagi and is still being released with 45 volumes published in December 2024. A shoujo anime of it was produced and aired on Studio Pierrot from 2014-2015, capturing the earlier episodes of Yona’s journey over a 24-episode run. Fans of the genre consider it a favorable watch due to the reason of character development and emotional depth being at the focus alongside the notable and compelling narrative.
